UNIT 1-2 Japanese VERB Forms and Types

Each VERB has another form called the 「DICTIONARY FORM」. All VERBS appear in this form in a dictionary. That is why it is called the 「DICTIONARY FORM」. This means, you cannot find the expressions like 「たbeます」 or 「のみたいです」 in a dictionary. All Japanese VERBS in the 「DICTIONARY FORM」 end with one of the following [u]-column syllables.
Among all VERBS,only 「る」 ending VERBS are divided into three types, they are called TYPE(a),TYPE(b) and TYPE(c) in the MISJ programs.
